I started painting with spray cans back in 2008, when I was living in the Russian Far East.
I grew up near the border with China's Heilongjiang Province, surrounded by the ruins of the Soviet industrial era. Abandoned factories and heavy engineering plants became my first canvases
I've always been drawn to the remnants of the Soviet industrial past, and that connection has remained a constant source of inspiration
Old school graffiti is also a big part of who I am. I always enjoy coming back to it, especially in good company
After finishing school, I moved to Siberia, where I studied and worked as engineer on oil and gas fields
During those years my paintings on walls began to move away from traditional graffiti and toward more abstract art
It was in Western Siberia that I started painting at festivals, organising and participating in exhibition projects
During that time, I was invited to Novokuznetsk, the region's largest metallurgical city, where I created a site specific installation in its historic industrial quarter
For the next four years, I lived and created in Balkan region
While living in Montenegro, I took part in my first Meeting of Styles in Kosovo.
Looking back, it's striking to see the contrast Having once been inspired by industrial landscapes, I now live surrounded by nature, and my work has gradually evolved toward organic forms, flowing lines, and botanical motifs
I would be genuinely happy to be part of your Meeting of Styles I was really impressed by the photos of the walls for this year's festival. I'd love the chance to paint one of the larger walls, but I'd be just as happy to contribute to a collaborative wall and paint alongside the other artists
This year, I moved to Southeast Asia. I'm excited to immerse myself in the region's rich culture and history, explore its unique industrial landscapes, and let these experiences find their way into my work
My wife, @th.iks, and I are traveling together and she'd also love to be part of the festival. She has already sent her application as well
I understand that the larger walls are usually assigned through a proposal and sketch process, and I'm more than happy to prepare one if needed.
That said, I always enjoy letting a place speak to me first. I love spending time in a location, getting a feel for its history and atmosphere, and allowing those impressions to guide the final piece.
In any case, I'd be delighted to work with you guys — not only at this Meeting of Styles Zhuzhou, but on other projects in China as well!
